Deliece Blanchard

A Love of Landscape

"The foundation of my practice is plein air painting. I have loved being outside since childhood and working from direct observation has been key to my development as a painter. It was in a field biology class at UVA that I met my husband, Fred. We are frequently exploring the natural world side by side. Painting and fly-fishing."

Deliece Blanchard is a prize-winning member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, and Women Artists of America. She has been awarded fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, where many of these paintings were completed, as well as, the Cook Foundation, and the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Ireland. Deliece taught strings and orchestra in the Lynchburg City Schools for 23 years. She retired in 2015 to paint full-time and currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC.
