Call for Artists: National Juried Art Exhibition

The Academy Center of the Arts is pleased to announce a Call for Artists for our National Juried Art Exhibition, on view April 3–24, 2026, in Lynchburg, Virginia. We invite artists from across the United States to submit original works for consideration in this competitive and dynamic exhibition.

This exhibition celebrates excellence in contemporary art and offers artists the opportunity for national exposure, professional recognition, and cash awards—including a $1,000 Best in Show Award. Click the link below to submit your work.

Awards

Cash awards will be presented, including:

  • Best in Show: $1,000

  • Second Place: $500

  • Third Place: $250

Additional awards may be presented at the juror’s discretion.

Juror

This year’s exhibition will be juried by Heath Ballowe, who currently serves as Galleries and Museum Collections Manager at Sweet Briar College. He holds a Master’s degree in Decorative Art, Design History, and Material Culture from the Bard Graduate Center, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design. Heath also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a collegiate teaching certification from Brown University.

Heath has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and Moore College of Art and Design and has managed numerous private and public art collections, including The Clay Studio cataloging project in Philadelphia, supported by The Luce Foundation for American Art.
