Join Us for First Friday: New Works by Erica Trabold and Kaye Lipscomb

The Academy Center of the Arts will debut a new exhibition this May during First Friday on May 1 from 5–8 PM, featuring work by Erica Trabold and Kaye Lipscomb. Together, their work explores transformation, perception, and the meaning found in everyday experiences.

Erica Trabold’s Nourishing Flourishes series reimagines the relationship between homemaking and artmaking. Through hand-cut collage and text, she transforms florals, food, and domestic imagery into layered compositions that challenge expectations of “women’s work.” Rooted in her experiences as both a writer and a mother, her work highlights process, presence, and the creative potential within daily life.

Kaye Lipscomb’s abstract paintings turn attention beneath the surface. Inspired by organic forms and fleeting moments, her work explores transformation, fragmentation, and change through shifting shapes and layered compositions. Rather than offering fixed meaning, Lipscomb invites viewers to interpret freely and discover what emerges within the work.

The exhibition will be on view throughout the month, with an artist talk by both Trabold and Lipscomb on May 9 from 1–2 PM. Join the Academy Center of the Arts for First Friday to celebrate the opening, and return to experience the show more deeply over time.
