Nature's Canvas: Capturing the Soul of the World
"I'm just a hippie with a Paintbrush , a Camera, and a IPad
I don’t just create art, I use my art to promote peace, love and understanding in the world. My art is inspired by spirituality and a desire for a world without war, hunger, or greed. I am an artist who wants to make the world a better place.
I use a combination of Programs and Apps to edit my photographs so that they look like a painting by retaining brush-like and painterly qualities. I want a visual consistency between the media
I use during the creative process. I use photography to capture an image to use as inspiration which is a method I developed early in my Art Journey. I like to wait for weather events like rain or fog because of the light qualities in the resulting image, and I like to work at night.
When I embark on a shoot, I try to keep a loose and flexible attitude to capture a street scene which has that unscripted, random and spontaneous look. Naturally the process has structure and an overarching plan. My original Oils and drawings also retain these qualities to maintain a cohesive portfolio.
What inspires me?
Nature mostly. I shoot a lot of architecture but I see buildings as a part of nature. Humans place our stamp on everything as if it was our destiny or our right to do so but nature always has a way of winning in the end.
Most of my inspiration comes from what I observe around me, I try to maintain an openness so that inspiration flows to me. When I see something I find interesting I will then plan to return and shoot the scene at exactly the time of day I have envisioned in my mind. Most of my work is already finished in my mind but I stay open to what unfolds in the process."
