Malcolm Hofmann: Capturing the Essence of Transformation and Emotion through Figurative Sculptures

"My name is Malcolm Hofmann. I was born in upstate New York, and I currently reside in Lynchburg, Virginia. I am a Latino figurative sculptor with over 7 years of experience in this art form.

While technology has made artistic work easier, I prefer to stick with traditional mediums that connect us to our roots. Clay, in particular, holds a special significance as it feels like tapping into the ancient magic used to create everything.

As time passes, wood decays, colors fade, and stone erodes. These natural phenomena serve as inspiration for my compositions, as they tell a captivating story of gradual transformation. Additionally, I draw inspiration from the subtle nuances of human emotions - the microexpressions that we experience but often only reveal in the most delicate manner. Whether through abstract or direct representation, my ultimate goal is to accurately convey these concepts in my work."
